In honor of Guru Nanak Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Ameerpet Gurudwara in Hyderabad on Monday.

The prime minister was present at the Koti Deepotsavam held in Hyderabad’s NTR Stadium. He had conducted a roadshow in the city earlier.

Guru Nanak Jayanti, commonly referred to as Gurpurab, is a holy celebration commemorating the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the first guru of Sikhism.

Every year on Kartik Purnima, the full moon day of the Kartik month, it is observed. On this day, Parkash Utsav is also observed.

The prime minister had wished the nation a happy Gurpurab earlier today.

From all of us, best wishes on this wonderful Parkash Purab event of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Modi said, “His emphasis on promoting brotherhood and helping others gives strength to millions around the world.”

He had also given him tributes on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti on Sunday’s Mann Ki Baat program.

The globe over, not just India, finds inspiration and relevance in Guru Nanak Ji’s priceless teachings. They motivate us to be straightforward, peaceful, and devoted to others, the prime minister had said.

The teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji on the spirit of service and acts of service are observed by our Sikh brothers and sisters around the world, he added. I extend my warmest greetings on Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Parv to every Mann Ki Baat listener.
