On Friday, OpenAI said that CEO Sam Altman had been fired because the company no longer trusted him to steer the company.

The startup that created ChatGPT, OpenAI, announced on Friday that it had sacked CEO Sam Altman because it was no longer confident in his ability to guide the Microsoft-backed company. Altman was a leading figure in the artificial intelligence revolution, thus his dismissal surprised the computer community.

CEO Sam Altman expressed his enthusiasm for his time at OpenAI in a post on X, the former Twitter. It changed me personally and, hopefully, the world in some small way. Above all, I enjoyed collaborating with individuals of such skill. Will discuss more about what comes ahead later,” he stated.

Why did Sam Altman lose his job as CEO of OpenAI?

Altman was fired by the OpenAI board, which is made up of Ilya Sutskever, chief scientist of OpenAI, Adam D’Angelo, CEO of Quora, Tasha McCauley, a technology entrepreneur, and Helen Toner of the Georgetown Center for Security and Emerging Technology. The review revealed that Altman was “not consistently candid in his communications” with the board.

The artificial intelligence startup said in a statement that “the board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI.”

The statement went on to say that the actions of the youthful CEO Sam Altman were “hindering” the board’s capacity to carry out its duties.

“OpenAI was founded with the goal of making sure that artificial general intelligence serves the interests of everyone. The board is still totally dedicated to achieving this goal. “We express our gratitude for Sam’s numerous contributions to the establishment and expansion of OpenAI,” the business stated on its blog.
