Under the revised testing standards, seven cars have received five stars from Global NCAP in the categories of adult and child occupant protection.

Nowadays, consumers of cars are mostly concerned about safety. When making a purchase, well-informed consumers consider safety ratings in addition to amenities and mileage. Based on the safety ratings that their automobiles have received, it is common knowledge that Tata Motors, Hyundai, Volkswagen, and Skoda are some of the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that produce the safest cars available in India.

The Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP) has evaluated many of the cars on sale in India as part of its Safer Cars For India campaign, even though India now has its own car testing program, the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP).

Global NCAP implemented new procedures in July 2022 to evaluate the safety criteria of automobiles offered for sale in India. The following seven models have received five stars for both adult and child occupant protection under the revised guidelines.

  • 2023 Tata Safari facelift
  • 2023 Tata Harrier facelift
  • Skoda Slavia
  • Skoda Kushaq
  • Volkswagen Virtus
  • Volkswagen Taigun
  • Hyundai Verna

Not unexpectedly, Bharat NCAP awarded both the 2023 Tata Safari and 2023 Tata Harrier facelifts flawless five-star safety ratings.

In the Global NCAP crash tests, the Mahindra Scorpio-N received five stars for adult occupant protection but only three stars for kid occupant protection.

No vehicle had ever received five stars in both the adult and child occupant protection categories under the previous Global NCAP testing regime.

In contrast, vehicles like the Mahindra XUV300, Tata Punch, and XUV700 received four stars for child occupant protection and five stars for adult occupant protection.
